Gambier’s Grant High School, scoring excellent marks for performances in his graduating year (1999). He was also cast as as Mushnik in the same year’s production of Little Shop of Horrors.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:courier new;"&gt;In 2001 he joined the University of South Australia’s “Acting Up” drama society (in spite of not being a student) as the society’s secretary, as well as performing in a number of their short stage productions. He was also the assistant stage manager and an actor in their 2002 Fringe production, The Blue Couch, at the Hartley Playhouse.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:courier new;"&gt;In 2003 “Acting Up” was dissolved, but the society’s president went on to found the Charlie Fandango Production Company. Paul joined the company immediately and went on to act in several more short plays, as well as appearing in some short films made by students at UniSA.
